Khris Middleton has officially opted into the final year of his contract with the Washington Wizards.
According to Shams Charania, the three-time All-Star exercised his $33.3 million player option for the 2025-26 NBA season.
Middleton, 33, is entering the last season of a three-year, $93 million deal he signed in 2023 while still with the Milwaukee Bucks.
The veteran forward began the 2024-25 campaign in Milwaukee, where he appeared in 23 games and averaged 12.6 points, 4.4 assists, and 3.7 rebounds while shooting 51.2% from the field and 40.7% from three-point range.
On February 6, he was traded to the Wizards in a four-team deal that sent Kyle Kuzma to the Bucks.
With Washington, Middleton started all 14 of his appearances, posting 10.7 points, 3.4 assists, and 3.7 rebounds per game on 41.3% shooting from the field and just 27.7% from beyond the arc.
Washington finished the 2024-25 regular season at the bottom of the Eastern Conference standings with an 18–64 record.
Middleton brings postseason experience, having been a key piece of Milwaukee’s 2021 championship run.
However, injuries and age have reduced his on-court production in recent seasons.
His decision to opt in rather than test free agency reflects the limited market for aging wings with declining efficiency and injury history.
