Zalgiris Kaunas has officially announced the departure of head coach Andrea Trinchieri following a mutual agreement to terminate his contract.

The decision ends a one-and-a-half-year tenure that began in late 2023 when Trinchieri replaced Kazys Maksvytis.

Under his leadership, Zalgiris captured two consecutive King Mindaugas Cup titles and reclaimed the LKL championship this season after falling short in 2024.

In EuroLeague competition, the team showed improvement year over year, finishing 13th this season with a 15–19 record after placing 14th (9–8) the previous campaign.

Despite not reaching the EuroLeague playoffs, Trinchieri’s stint included a stabilizing presence and measurable domestic success for the Lithuanian powerhouse.

The club confirmed that assistant coach Massimiliano Menetti will also exit alongside Trinchieri, as Zalgiris begins its search for a new coaching staff.

Trinchieri, a veteran of the European basketball circuit, previously held roles with Bayern Munich, Partizan Belgrade, and Brose Bamberg, building a reputation for tactical acumen and player development.

His time in Kaunas was marked by a renewed defensive identity and consistent competitiveness, particularly in high-pressure domestic matchups.

Zalgiris’ management has not yet named a replacement, but with EuroLeague and LKL preparations on the horizon, the team is expected to act swiftly in securing a new bench leader.
