The Phoenix Suns have no intention of flipping Jalen Green following the blockbuster deal that sent Kevin Durant to Houston.

According to Arizona Sports’ John Gambadoro, the 23-year-old guard is expected to start alongside Devin Booker next season, ending speculation of an immediate re-trade.

Green was acquired earlier this week in a four-player package that also netted Phoenix Dillon Brooks, the No. 10 pick in the 2025 NBA Draft, and five future second-rounders.

Despite reports of interest from other teams, the Suns are committing to Green as a foundational piece in their retooled roster.

The high-scoring guard is coming off a regular season in which he averaged 21.0 points, 4.6 rebounds, and 3.4 assists while starting all 82 games for the Rockets.

Green’s postseason production dipped to 13.3 points per game on 37.2% shooting, but Phoenix views his offensive upside as worth investing in long-term.

He is entering the first year of a three-year, $105 million contract, which now becomes a key part of the Suns’ cap structure moving forward.

Green will join a backcourt led by Booker, who remains under contract through 2028, giving Phoenix a dynamic scoring duo to build around.

The Suns missed the playoffs after a disappointing 36–46 finish but are positioning themselves for a reset with young talent and financial flexibility.

Trading Durant signaled a pivot away from a veteran-heavy approach, and holding onto Green reinforces that strategic shift.

Brooks, who brings defensive toughness and playoff experience, adds another versatile wing next to the Suns’ returning core.

Phoenix now holds three first-round picks and eight second-rounders, offering them multiple options in offseason trade scenarios or draft maneuvering.

The franchise has not advanced past the second round of the playoffs since its 2021 Finals run and now shifts focus toward sustainable long-term success.
