The Boston Celtics are actively exploring trade possibilities involving Jrue Holiday, Kristaps Porzingis, and Sam Hauser as they look to navigate a challenging financial landscape this offseason, according to NBA insider Shams Charania.

With the luxury tax threshold and looming apron penalties shaping their decisions, the reigning champions are facing a pivotal moment, one made even more complicated by the expected absence of Jayson Tatum, who is recovering from Achilles surgery and is unlikely to play next season.

Appearing on The Pat McAfee Show, Charania emphasized the magnitude of Boston’s offseason considerations.

“The other big ticket item I think this offseason is the Celtics and what are they going to do,” Charania said. “And the primary focus, from my understanding, with the Celtics’ offseason has been Jrue Holiday, Kristaps Porzingis, Sam Hauser – their trade markets.”

While those three players are currently the main focus in trade talks, Charania noted that other key Celtics are also drawing interest around the league.

“However, now are teams making big offers and calling about Jaylen Brown and Derrick White? One hundred percent,” he added. “The Celtics prefer not to trade them, from my understanding, but listen, if they get a big offer, they have to look at everything.”

In other words, while Boston’s front office would rather retain core pieces like Brown and White, they’re not ruling out any scenario that could help reshape the roster for the future.

“I think they’re going to get offers on the three guys that they’re focused on. They’re going to get offers potentially on Derrick White and Jaylen Brown. And I think between now and the draft and free agency, they’re going to evaluate what makes sense from a value perspective,” Charania explained.

When host Pat McAfee pressed further, asking if it was fair to say “everybody but Tatum” could be on the table in trade talks, Charania replied succinctly: “Essentially.”

With Tatum sidelined for the 2025-26 season, the Celtics may be positioning themselves for a retooling phase aimed at maximizing their title window when their star forward is healthy again in 2026-27.
