Jarace Walker’s availability for Game 1 of the NBA Finals is currently in question after the rookie forward suffered an ankle injury during the fourth quarter of Game 6.

The injury, which occurred late in the game, left Walker visibly in pain, and he was later seen leaving the arena on crutches, casting doubt on his status heading into the championship series.

Following the game, Pacers head coach Rick Carlisle expressed concern over the severity of the injury but remained cautiously optimistic due to Walker’s youth and resilience.

“He’s young, so that’s good,” Carlisle said. “I didn’t get a chance to see the replay, so I don’t know how badly it rolled or how much weight he had on it when it happened. But when a player goes down and doesn’t get up right away, you always hold your breath.”

Walker, who played just seven minutes in the game and scored two points, has provided the Pacers with energy and depth during the postseason.

While his on-court role has been limited, his defensive versatility and physical presence have proven valuable off the bench.

With the NBA Finals set to tip off on Thursday, the Pacers will monitor Walker’s condition closely in the coming days to determine whether he’ll be able to suit up for the opening game of the series.
