The EuroLeague will expand to 20 teams for the 2025–26 season, marking its most significant structural change in over a decade.

This decision was approved by the Euroleague Commercial Assets (ECA) Board of Shareholders during a meeting held on May 29, 2025.

According to Eurohoops, the league plans to include Valencia, Dubai BC, and EuroCup champion Hapoel Tel Aviv in the expanded lineup.

As reported previously, ALBA Berlin will exit the EuroLeague and move to the Basketball Champions League.

The round-robin format will remain, with the schedule adjusted to feature more double weeks due to the increased number of games.

A midseason break for FIBA windows is not expected under the new structure.

Valencia and Dubai BC are reportedly joining via wildcards, with each granted a three-year license.

Hapoel Tel Aviv will enter under a one-year term after claiming the 2024–25 EuroCup title.

The ECA confirmed that further steps depend on formal approvals by the General Assembly and completion of regulatory requirements.

Preliminary discussions also began around possible additional expansion beyond the 2025–26 season.

Paris Basketball and Dubai BC are considered “special cases” due to the markets they represent, according to sources cited by Eurohoops.

The full list of participating teams will be finalized once licensing and eligibility processes are completed.

EuroLeague has not indicated changes to its playoff or Final Four structure as part of this expansion.
