The Philadelphia 76ers have given “no consideration” to trading the No. 3 overall pick in the upcoming 2025 NBA Draft, despite external assumptions, according to a league source who spoke with Philly Voice’s Adam Aaronson.
This follows ESPN’s report on Monday suggesting that “some” rival teams believed the Sixers could use the pick to pursue established veteran talent.
Aaronson clarified that internally, the team has not discussed any such scenario to date.
Philadelphia landed the third pick in the lottery behind the Dallas Mavericks and San Antonio Spurs, marking the team’s highest selection since 2017.
Despite a disappointing 24-58 finish in the 2024–25 season, the front office appears set on keeping its top draft asset.
Bleacher Report’s Jonathan Wasserman currently projects the Sixers to select Rutgers forward Ace Bailey at No. 3.
Bailey, a 6-foot-8 wing, is regarded for his athleticism and shot creation but has drawn mixed reviews due to streaky efficiency and decision-making on offense.
Philadelphia, which missed the playoffs for the first time since 2017, is seeking to rebuild around Tyrese Maxey, George and former MVP Joel Embiid, who turns 31 next season.
Philadelphia also holds the No. 35 overall pick in the second round of the 2025 NBA Draft.
The draft begins June 25 with round two taking place the following night.
