As the Boston Celtics prepare for their second-round playoff matchup against the New York Knicks, Jaylen Brown expressed excitement over the historic rivalry between the two teams.

The Celtics, fresh off a 4-1 first-round series win over the Orlando Magic, now face the third-seeded Knicks in what promises to be a thrilling postseason clash.

“It’s a great stage for basketball,” Brown said. “Just all the history between Boston and New York. It’s excellent to be able to live or relive that. I don’t take that for granted.”

He emphasized the excitement surrounding the series, not only for the players but also for the fans who will undoubtedly be eager to witness the storied rivalry. “Boston versus New York — it doesn’t get too much better than that,” Brown added.

With the Knicks making significant moves, including acquiring defensive stalwarts OG Anunoby and Mikal Bridges, they are clearly preparing to challenge the Celtics’ stars, Brown and Jayson Tatum. “Those are two excellent, excellent defenders,” Brown acknowledged. “We’ve got to be ready. But it’ll be fun.”

While the Knicks have made strides to bolster their defense, Brown believes the Celtics’ versatility will be crucial. “Our defensive versatility has been one of our strong suits,” he said. “We’ve seen guys get hot, and we’ve seen guys play above their means in the playoffs. You’ve got to be prepared for every scenario.”

As a veteran of nine playoff campaigns, Brown has witnessed the evolution of his own game and his approach to postseason basketball. Reflecting on his earlier years, he admitted how much his mindset has matured. “I see things so much differently now,” Brown stated. “The preparation for the playoffs, even the preparation for a series — it’s totally different.”

“We’re prepared for everything,” Brown concluded. “The way we prepare, the way Joe [Mazzulla] prepares — we’re ready for it all.”
