Throughout a challenging season, the New York Knicks never wavered in their belief in Mikal Bridges, and the young forward rewarded their trust with a standout performance in the close-out game against Detroit, writes Barbara Barker of Newsday.

In Game 6, Bridges scored 25 points, including a dramatic put-back dunk in the final minute that tied the game.

Following Saturday’s practice, Knicks head coach Tom Thibodeau spoke highly of Bridges’ ability to handle the intense pressure that came with his trade to New York.

The Knicks sent five first-round picks to Brooklyn in exchange for the 28-year-old, a move that came with significant expectations.

“I think for anybody who gets traded or in free agency or whatever it might be there’s an adjustment period that you have to go through and it takes some time,” Thibodeau said. “I think he’s very confident in his abilities.”

Bridges has played 7 seasons for the Suns, Nets, and Knicks. He has averaged 14.8 points, 4.0 rebounds, and 2.7 assists in 556 regular-season games.
