After a hard-fought loss against the Los Angeles Clippers on Sunday, Golden State Warriors star Jimmy Butler opened up about the team’s struggles as they now face a crucial home play-in game against the Memphis Grizzlies.

The Warriors are currently in a position they have not found themselves in for some time: fighting for a playoff spot through the play-in tournament. Despite the tough road ahead, Butler, who has successful history of going through the play-in in his Miami days, remains optimistic.

In a candid post-game interview, Butler spoke about the Warriors’ play-in fate and their determination to turn things around. “We’re great. We’re right where we want to be. We still have an opportunity, and we control our own fate,” said Butler, expressing confidence as his team prepares for Tuesday’s showdown.

Butler also reflected on his own performance, having logged 48 minutes in the game. “If 48’s needed, 50’s needed, then you’ve got to be able to do it,” he said, emphasizing the importance of doing whatever it takes for the team to win.

His effort helped keep Golden State competitive, despite a 124-119 overtime loss to the Clippers, where James Harden and Kawhi Leonard combined for a massive 72-point performance.

The Warriors now find themselves in the unfamiliar position of needing to win through the play-in tournament, with the Grizzlies standing in their way. Butler remains focused on the challenge ahead, saying, “Don’t lose. That’s what I’m telling you — don’t lose.”

Though Butler’s 30 points and nine assists were pivotal, the Warriors’ rebounding woes played a key role in the loss. The Clippers out-rebounded Golden State 42-25, with Ivica Zubac contributing a dominant 17 boards. Butler was the first to acknowledge the need to improve in this area: “We’ve got to get the loose balls.”

As the Warriors gear up for their do-or-die play-in game, Butler stressed that the key to victory lies in teamwork and focus. “The importance of every single possession… knowing what you’re supposed to be doing,” he added.

With his health now in focus after taking a hit to the thigh, Butler is determined to be ready for the challenge. “I’m going to be ready to go,” he assured.
