Rockets forward Dillon Brooks received his 16th technical foul of the 2024-25 season for kicking Jazz guard Collin Sexton during Wednesday’s game, according to Bleacher Report. By NBA rules, this results in an automatic one-game suspension unless the league rescinds the call.

The incident occurred as Brooks pivoted into the post while being defended by Sexton. Attempting to sell a foul, Brooks leaped and dropped the ball but appeared to kick Sexton in a sensitive area.

Houston, currently holding the No. 2 seed in the Western Conference at 49-27, can’t afford to lose Brooks as the playoff race tightens. The Rockets are just two games ahead of the No. 3 Nuggets and 2.5 games ahead of the No. 4 Lakers, with six games left in the season.

Brooks, a 2023 All-Defensive selection, has been a key two-way contributor, averaging 13.9 points, 3.7 rebounds, 1.7 assists, and 0.8 steals across 72 games on .422/.395/.824 shooting splits.

If his technical isn’t rescinded, he’ll miss Friday’s game against Oklahoma City. If he racks up two more techs before the season ends, he’ll face another one-game suspension.
