This season, the NBA’s tight cap space makes it challenging for restricted free agents to find opportunities, according to ESPN’s Brian Windhorst.

With only one team, the Brooklyn Nets, having significant cap room – estimated between $45-60 million – there’s little room for free agents.

However, the Nets are expected to take a more patient approach, potentially using their cap space for trades rather than signings.

While general manager Sean Marks has previously pursued restricted free agents aggressively, there’s no indication they plan to do so this year.

As one agent put it, free agents have “no leverage” and should prepare for a “free agent recession,” with hopes of better opportunities next year when the cap increases.
