The Orlando Magic (33-27) snapped the Cleveland Cavaliers’ (56-11) 16-game winning streak with a 108-103 win on Sunday. Paolo Banchero led the way with 24 points, while Franz Wagner contributed 22.
Cleveland had not lost since Feb. 4 but struggled to execute in the final moments. Donovan Mitchell missed three shots in the last minute, and the Cavs went scoreless in the closing 1:21.
Banchero hit a go-ahead jumper with 46 seconds left, putting Orlando up 104-103. De’Andre Hunter misfired on a 3-pointer, and Kentavious Caldwell-Pope extended the Magic’s lead with two free throws.
Max Strus had a chance to tie the game, but his 3-pointer missed. Orlando’s defense then forced Mitchell into two off-target attempts from deep.
Banchero shot just 6 of 22 but grabbed 11 rebounds and dished out seven assists. Wendell Carter Jr. added 16 points and 14 boards. Caldwell-Pope chipped in 15 points while shooting 3 of 5 from beyond the arc.
Mitchell returned from a two-game absence due to a sore groin and led Cleveland with 23 points. Jarrett Allen had 20 points and 12 rebounds, while Darius Garland added 19 points.
The Cavs were without All-Star forward Evan Mobley, who remains sidelined with a foot injury. Cleveland also committed three turnovers in a 27-second span late in the third quarter, allowing Orlando to erase an eight-point deficit with a 10-0 run.
Hunter suffered his first loss in 14 games since being acquired from Atlanta at the trade deadline. The Cavaliers missed a chance to become the first team since the 2021 Phoenix Suns to win 17 consecutive games.
Orlando, which pushed Cleveland to seven games in last season’s playoffs, secured its second win over the Cavs this season. The Magic, despite injuries to Mo Wagner and Jalen Suggs, continue to fight for playoff positioning in the East.
