If the Phoenix Suns decide to trade Kevin Durant this offseason, the ideal return package would include three first-round draft picks, a promising young player, and enough financial flexibility to dip below the second tax apron, sources inform The Arizona Republic’s Duane Rankin.

However, Rankin’s phrasing leaves room for interpretation. It remains unclear whether his sources believe this is the asking price the Suns would set, the kind of return they could realistically secure, or simply an optimistic best-case scenario for the franchise.

Despite continuing to perform at an elite level, Durant’s value on the trade market may be affected by key factors such as his age – he turns 37 in the fall – and his contract situation, as he will be entering the final guaranteed year of his deal.

These considerations could make it more challenging for Phoenix to command a significant haul in return.

In the same report, Rankin also cites sources who suggest that if the Suns were to explore moving Devin Booker instead, they could potentially land an even greater return – four first-round picks along with a rising star in his third or fourth year.

Unlike Durant, Booker is just 28 years old and remains under contract through 2028, making him a more attractive long-term asset for potential suitors.

However, any speculation surrounding Booker may be moot, as John Gambadoro of Arizona Sports 98.7 reiterates via Twitter that the Suns have no plans to entertain offers for their franchise cornerstone.

The team remains committed to building around him, further reinforcing that any major trade discussions this offseason would likely center on Durant rather than Booker.
