Anthony Edwards powered the Minnesota Timberwolves to a 141-124 victory over the San Antonio Spurs on Sunday night, extending their winning streak to five games. The 23-year-old guard scored 25 points on 10-for-15 shooting, helping Minnesota (37-29) secure its highest-scoring game of the season.
Naz Reid contributed 20 points and seven rebounds off the bench, while Julius Randle recorded a near triple-double with 14 points, 10 assists, and seven rebounds. The Timberwolves never trailed and reached a season-best eight games above .500.
Jaden McDaniels and Rudy Gobert each added 16 points, with Gobert also grabbing eight rebounds in his return from injury. Minnesota shared the ball effectively, registering 38 assists and hitting 21 of 42 three-pointers, just one short of their season-high.
De’Aaron Fox led the Spurs (26-36) with 22 points on 8-for-12 shooting, while rookie Stephon Castle added 20 points. San Antonio has now lost seven of its last ten games since Victor Wembanyama was ruled out for the season due to a blood clot in his shoulder.
Castle, the fourth overall pick from Connecticut, has been making an impact off the bench, ranking second in points among rookies this season. Despite his efforts, the Spurs struggled to keep pace with Minnesota’s offense.
The Timberwolves dominated in transition and second-chance opportunities, scoring 30 second-chance points. They exploded for 41 points in the third quarter, capped by Donte DiVincenzo’s assist to Jaylen Clark for a buzzer-beating three-pointer.
