The Dallas Mavericks are adding frontcourt depth as they deal with multiple injuries. According to NBA insider Chris Haynes, 2021 first-round pick Kai Jones intends to sign a two-way contract with Dallas after clearing waivers.
Jones, 24, was recently waived by the Los Angeles Clippers after playing 28 games for the team this season. He averaged 2.2 points and 1.6 rebounds in 7.4 minutes per game.
Dallas is currently without several key big men, including Anthony Davis, Dereck Lively II, and Daniel Gafford. With their frontcourt rotation thin, the Mavericks are looking to bolster their roster with additional size and athleticism.
Jones, known for his mobility and defensive potential, will have an opportunity to carve out a role in Dallas.
The Mavericks, holding a 32-29 record, are sixth in the Western Conference and fighting to secure a strong playoff position.
