Shaedon Sharpe erupted for 25 points as the Portland Trail Blazers cruised to a 121-102 victory over the Brooklyn Nets on Friday night. The win extended Portland’s winning streak to four games, keeping their playoff hopes alive in the competitive Western Conference.
Sharpe was nearly flawless in the first quarter, scoring 14 points on 6-of-6 shooting to set the tone for the Trail Blazers. His efficiency and poise were instrumental in Portland’s early dominance, as they led 33-25 after the opening period.
Dalano Banton provided a spark off the bench, scoring 14 of his 23 points in the fourth quarter to seal the win. Toumani Camara added 19 points, while Anfernee Simons chipped in 14 for a balanced Portland attack.
The Nets, playing without several key contributors, struggled to keep pace. Cam Thomas returned from a 24-game absence due to a hamstring injury, scoring 16 points in 21 minutes. Nic Claxton and Killian Hayes each added 16 points, but Brooklyn’s offense sputtered against Portland’s defense.
Portland led by as many as 21 points in the third quarter before Brooklyn trimmed the deficit to nine heading into the fourth. However, a 13-4 run, fueled by Banton’s seven straight points, put the game out of reach.
The Trail Blazers’ ball movement was a key factor, as they dished out 32 assists compared to Brooklyn’s 20. Despite losing the rebounding battle 45-36, Portland’s unselfish play and sharpshooting (15-of-36 from three) proved too much for the Nets.
With the win, Portland improved to 27-33, staying in the hunt for a play-in spot. Meanwhile, Brooklyn dropped to 21-38, further dimming their postseason hopes.
