Cleveland Cavaliers head coach Kenny Atkinson praised De’Andre Hunter’s defense/fundamentals following Tuesday’s 122-82 road win vs. the Orlando Magic (17 points/3 rebounds/2 assists/zero turnovers/5-8 FG/4-5 3-PT/3-4 FT/+19 +/-).

“You saw the defense tonight. The offense is almost a bonus. Although I know in Atlanta, he was having a great offensive year. But listen, you saw [Paolo] Banchero & [Franz] Wagner tonight. He gets switched on them: he can hold them up, he can defend them. He gets Wendell Carter [Jr.] on him, he can hold him up and defend him. He defends 1-5, those guys are invaluable. And he does it intelligently, right? He doesn’t foul. He’s in the right position. Gets great contest. Real credit to his background, right? UVA (University of Virginia), Tony Bennett, when you get guys from elite programs like that. His fundamentals on both ends are excellent.”
