Malik Beasley scored 26 points, and Cade Cunningham added 21 points and 11 assists as the Detroit Pistons secured a 117-97 victory over the Boston Celtics on Wednesday night.
Detroit (33-26) extended its winning streak to eight games while snapping a 12-game skid against Boston. The Celtics (42-17) had won six straight before falling to the surging Pistons.
Jayson Tatum led Boston with 27 points, while Derrick White and Payton Pritchard each scored 18. However, the Celtics struggled to keep pace in the second half as Detroit took control.
The game was tied at 55 at halftime, but the Pistons outscored Boston 35-24 in the third quarter to take an 11-point lead heading into the fourth. They then opened the final period with an 8-0 run, extending the advantage to 19.
Jalen Duren contributed 13 points and 11 rebounds, helping Detroit dominate the glass with a 49-33 rebounding edge. Tobias Harris chipped in 16 points and nine boards.
Beasley provided an offensive spark off the bench, shooting 10-of-15 from the field and hitting six three-pointers. His performance gave the Pistons a crucial scoring boost against one of the league’s top teams.
For Boston, Tatum, White, and Pritchard combined to shoot 14-of-22 from the field in the first half, including 11-of-15 from three-point range. However, the Celtics’ offense stalled in the second half, scoring just 42 points after the break.
