Milwaukee Bucks superstar Giannis Antetokounmpo will not play in the 2025 NBA All-Star Game due to a mild calf strain, according to NBA insider Shams Charania. The two-time MVP has been sidelined since February 2 and is expected to return shortly after the All-Star break.

Antetokounmpo, who was voted as the Eastern Conference’s leading vote-getter, earned his ninth consecutive All-Star selection this season. He was named a starter for the game, but his injury will force the league to find a replacement.

The 30-year-old has been dominant this season, averaging 31.8 points, 12.2 rebounds, and 5.9 assists in 34.9 minutes per game. His absence is a setback for the Bucks, who currently hold the fifth seed in the Eastern Conference with a 28-23 record.

This marks the second time in his career that Antetokounmpo will miss the All-Star Game due to injury. In 2021, he played through a knee issue and won All-Star MVP, but this time, Milwaukee is prioritizing his health for the remainder of the season.

With Antetokounmpo out, the NBA will announce an injury replacement for the Eastern Conference roster. The decision will be made by commissioner Adam Silver, who has the authority to select the next eligible player.
