Brooklyn Nets guard Keon Johnson recently broke down how he envisions himself as a player/what he looks for when watching film (averaging 14.8 PPG/3.4 RPG/2.9 APG/1.1 TOV/1.1 SPG/40.2% FG/79.2% FT over the last fifteen games).

Reporter: “You’ve been playing pretty well since the beginning of this season, especially with all the injuries forcing you to a starting role. But since January, you’ve taken your game to the next level. What is the vision you see for yourself as far as a player in the NBA whether it’s on the Nets or any other team going forward?”
Johnson: “For myself, someone that’s gonna come in and constantly defend to their fullest night in and night out. But on the offensive end, someone that you can trust with the ball in their hands and also with the ball not in their hands to make the right decisions or make open shots. So each night I feel like I’m getting more and more comfortable with the different roles that I’m given on a nightly basis, but I try and watch as much film as I can knowing that each game is different, each night is different, every team is different. So, just how I can have my own impact in any different way.”
Reporter: “When you talk about watching film, are you going into it watching film of yourself and habits you want to correct, things you want to get better at? Is it more that or is it more watching I guess other teams tendencies?”
Johnson: “I do a bit of both. I try and watch games when other teams play. I just keep up on how they scheme, but then also try and see myself within their scheme or how they would try to guard a team like us. So, just trying to be proactive going into the night and just give myself some sense of freedom before I step on the court.”
