Anthony Edwards delivered a dominant 41-point performance as the Minnesota Timberwolves overcame a fourth-quarter deficit to defeat the Houston Rockets 127-114 on Thursday night. The Timberwolves, now 29-23, outscored Houston 35-16 in the final period to seal the win at home.
Edwards, playing on the second night of a back-to-back, scored 18 points in the first quarter and 16 in the fourth. His late-game surge helped Minnesota erase a six-point deficit entering the final 12 minutes. The 23-year-old also contributed seven rebounds and six assists.
Rudy Gobert sparked the fourth-quarter comeback with back-to-back dunks before Edwards took control. The All-Star guard drilled three 3-pointers in the period, including a crucial shot that extended Minnesota’s lead to 113-106 with under five minutes to play.
Jaylen Clark provided a lift off the bench with a career-high 17 points, shooting 4-for-6 from beyond the arc. Naz Reid posted a double-double with 15 points and 11 rebounds, while Mike Conley added 16 points and five assists.
Houston, which entered the game with the second-most road wins in the NBA, dropped its fifth straight contest. Jalen Green led the Rockets with 28 points but struggled with efficiency, shooting 9-for-22 from the field. Alperen Sengun recorded 16 points, 10 rebounds, and seven assists, while Cam Whitmore contributed 16 points off the bench.
Minnesota’s defensive intensity and rebounding edge played a key role in the win. The Timberwolves, who rank in the middle of the league in rebounding, outrebounded Houston 47-39 despite the Rockets being the NBA’s top rebounding team.
The Rockets shot just 6-for-19 in the fourth quarter and committed costly turnovers that allowed Minnesota to extend its lead.
