Despite rumors surrounding De’Aaron Fox’s potential availability ahead of the trade deadline, the Houston Rockets remain firm in their strategy and are not planning to pursue a deal for the Sacramento Kings’ star guard, sources tell Kelly Iko of The Athletic.

The Rockets, who have seen positive progress in their development this season, are committed to continuing this growth and aim to carry their momentum into the playoffs.

Houston views their young core as a priority and is intent on allowing their current roster to build chemistry and experience throughout the remainder of the season.

While the Rockets could explore more significant moves during the offseason to improve their championship window, they are not looking to make major trades at this time.

Their options are somewhat limited in terms of trade assets, especially considering the extensions signed by Jalen Green and Alperen Sengun before the season, which affect the flexibility of their roster.

As a result, the Rockets are focusing on making only marginal moves that won’t disrupt the cohesion of their current rotation.

The team still has some financial flexibility, with $10.6 million in the room below the luxury tax and access to the $12.8 million non-taxpayer midlevel exception, which they could use to add a complementary piece if needed.

However, the emphasis remains on maintaining their current trajectory rather than pursuing a high-profile trade.
