Jaren Jackson Jr. delivered an impressive 28 points as the Memphis Grizzlies defeated the Utah Jazz 125-103 on Saturday night, securing their sixth consecutive victory.
The Grizzlies, now 31-15, dominated the game behind Jackson’s efficient 10-of-14 shooting performance, including two 3-pointers and six free throws. Memphis’ depth, combined with Zach Edey’s 19 points and four blocks, helped the team cruise past Utah, who struggled to find consistency.
The Jazz, currently 10-33, had Collin Sexton leading the charge with 20 points, while Svi Mykhailiuk contributed 16. Despite balanced scoring from Utah’s lineup, the team couldn’t overcome their offensive inefficiency. The Jazz finished the night shooting only 25.5% from beyond the arc, with key players Lauri Markkanen and Sexton each going 1-for-8 from 3-point range.
Memphis, on the other hand, had no such struggles. Desmond Bane added 17 points, eight rebounds, and six assists. Jaylen Wells chipped in 16 points, showcasing the Grizzlies’ ability to spread the scoring. The Grizzlies were particularly dominant in the third quarter, outscoring Utah 36-17 and taking a commanding 101-74 lead heading into the final frame.
The first half was more competitive, with the teams exchanging leads. Memphis led by just eight points at halftime, but Jackson’s 20 points in the opening 24 minutes helped give the Grizzlies a solid foundation for their second-half explosion. The Jazz, despite a strong performance from Walker Kessler with 11 points and 10 rebounds, couldn’t match Memphis’ scoring in the third quarter.
A key moment came in the second quarter when Utah’s Drew Eubanks was ejected following a technical foul, further disrupting the Jazz’s momentum. Memphis capitalized on this, turning up the heat as the game wore on.
Despite Utah’s late push, where they outscored the Grizzlies 29-24 in the fourth, the deficit was too large to overcome. Memphis shot a scorching 60% from the field in the third, outclassing Utah on both ends of the floor.
