FIBA has unveiled the Class of 2025 inductees to the prestigious FIBA Hall of Fame, highlighting the exceptional careers of basketball legends. The list is headlined by Spanish icon Pau Gasol, USA’s Dawn Staley, and renowned coach Mike Krzyzewski.

The enshrinement ceremony will take place on May 17, 2025, during the FIBA Mid-Term Congress in Bahrain. A total of eight players and one coach will be honored for their extraordinary contributions to the sport.

Gasol, who became a towering figure for Spain, led his nation to historic heights. The big man earned MVP honors at the 2006 FIBA Basketball World Cup, where Spain claimed its first major international title. He went on to represent Spain in five Olympic Games, winning three medals, and secured two NBA Championships with the Los Angeles Lakers.

Staley, a legendary point guard, was a crucial member of the USA Women’s Basketball team. She won gold at three Olympics and two FIBA Women’s Basketball World Cups. Staley also transitioned to coaching, where she guided the USA to gold at the 2020 Tokyo Olympics and the 2018 FIBA Women’s World Cup.

Krzyzewski, or ‘Coach K,’ is regarded as one of the greatest basketball minds. He revitalized USA Basketball in the mid-2000s, leading the “Redeem Team” to gold at the 2008 Beijing Olympics and guiding the team to further success at the 2010 World Cup. The legendary coach also helmed the USA to two more Olympic golds before retiring in 2016.

Other notable inductees include Andrew Bogut, who starred for Australia and helped the nation win its first gold medal at the FIBA U19 World Cup in 2003. The former NBA champion was also a key player for the Boomers in three Olympic Games.

Ticha Penicheiro of Portugal earned recognition for her illustrious career, which included a EuroLeague Women title in 2007 and a WNBA Championship in 2005. Meanwhile, Leonor Borrell of Cuba is celebrated as one of the country’s best players, notably leading her team to a 1990 World Cup bronze medal.

Alphonse Bilé of Côte d’Ivoire will also be inducted, celebrated for his leadership as both a player and coach, guiding the nation to two AfroBasket gold medals. Fadi El Khatib of Lebanon, a key figure in three FIBA Basketball World Cups, and Ratko Radovanovic of Serbia, a member of the legendary Yugoslav team, round out the remarkable list of inductees.

The Class of 2025 represents a diverse group of basketball icons from various parts of the world, each contributing significantly to the sport’s global growth and success.
