Minnesota Timberwolves center Rudy Gobert appears to hold no animosity toward Draymond Green, despite their history of contentious interactions. The French big man shared his thoughts during a recent interview with ESPN’s Tim MacMahon, emphasizing empathy and understanding.
“It’s hard to know what’s going on in someone else’s mind,” Gobert said. “But I just hope for him that he’s happy, because he’s a father, he’s a husband, he’s a leader of this community.”
Gobert’s comments come nearly a year after an infamous altercation where Green put him in a headlock during a game, a move that led to Green’s suspension. The incident was one of many publicized moments of tension between the two players, as Green has frequently targeted Gobert with verbal jabs over the years.
Despite their rocky history, Gobert made it clear that he harbors no ill will. “Regardless of what happened in the past, I have empathy for everyone,” he said. “I want to see him be happy and be the best version of himself.”
Green, a four-time NBA champion and defensive stalwart for the Golden State Warriors, has long been known for his fiery demeanor on and off the court. While his competitive nature has made him a key piece of the Warriors’ success, it has also led to clashes with opponents, including Gobert.
