Jaren Jackson Jr. led the Memphis Grizzlies with 33 points, propelling them to a narrow 127-125 victory over the Minnesota Timberwolves on Saturday night. Memphis improved to 25-14, while Minnesota fell to 20-18 in a nail-biting contest that saw 25 lead changes.
Ja Morant made a tiebreaking jumper with 18 seconds left to seal the win. Although Morant had just 12 points, he scored the game-tying basket with 54 seconds to go before delivering the decisive 11-footer.
Desmond Bane added 21 points for Memphis, shooting 4-of-8 from beyond the arc. Rookie Jaylen Wells impressed on both ends, holding Anthony Edwards to 15 points and contributing 13 points of his own.
Minnesota was led by Donte DiVincenzo, who scored a season-high 27 points, including six 3-pointers. Jaden McDaniels chipped in 21 points, and Naz Reid scored 19 off the bench. Despite their efforts, the Timberwolves couldn’t overcome their 19 turnovers, including a crucial one by Julius Randle in the final minute.
The Grizzlies dominated the offensive boards, grabbing 21 to Minnesota’s seven. Rookie center Zach Edey had seven offensive rebounds, helping Memphis take 108 shots compared to Minnesota’s 83.
