The Dallas home of NBA star Luka Doncic was burglarized on Friday night, marking the latest incident in a troubling series of break-ins targeting the residences of high-profile athletes.
“No one was home at the time, and thankfully Luka and his family are safe,” said Lara Beth Seager, Doncic’s business manager, in a statement addressing the incident.
She confirmed that Doncic has filed a police report and that authorities are actively investigating the matter.
Doncic, currently sidelined for at least a month due to a strained left calf, was not in the house when the burglary occurred.
The break-in adds to a growing list of similar crimes involving prominent athletes, raising concerns about the safety and security of players’ homes while they are either traveling or recovering from injuries.
The NBA has disclosed that the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) is involved in investigating these cases.
According to the league, some of these burglaries have been linked to “transnational South American Theft Groups.”
These groups are reportedly highly organized and employ advanced techniques and technologies in their operations.
Their methods include pre-surveillance of targets, the use of drones for reconnaissance, and even signal-jamming devices to bypass security systems.
