The Los Angeles Lakers are expected to be active in the trade market before the deadline, according to NBA insider Marc Stein. While the team is focused on adding depth rather than pursuing star-level talent, Stein reports that the Lakers are still likely to make at least one move.

The Lakers, currently 10th in the Western Conference with a record of 14-12, are led by rookie head coach JJ Redick. Despite strong performances from key players, including Anthony Davis and LeBron James, the team remains focused on improving its roster.

Davis has been a standout for Los Angeles this season, averaging 27.8 points, 11.4 rebounds, and 3.3 assists in 35.3 minutes per game. His all-around dominance has been crucial for the Lakers, but the team’s success still hinges on improving depth.

James is also performing at a high level, contributing 22.8 points, 8 rebounds, and 9.1 assists in 35 minutes per game. The Lakers’ veterans continue to provide leadership, but the team is looking to solidify its supporting cast for a better playoff push.

Austin Reaves has emerged as another key contributor, averaging 16.9 points, 3.6 rebounds, and 5 assists in 33.7 minutes per game.

D’Angelo Russell, Rui Hachimura, and rookie Dalton Knecht have also contributed to the team’s overall efforts. Russell is averaging 12.4 points, 2.7 rebounds, and 4.8 assists in 26.6 minutes per game, while Hachimura is providing 12.2 points and 5.5 rebounds in 33 minutes per game. Knecht has been a pleasant surprise, averaging 10.6 points and 3.7 rebounds in 23.6 minutes per game.

Despite these contributions, the Lakers are still looking to address roster needs, particularly in terms of depth. The team has reportedly prioritized finding players who can help in these areas, without making any drastic moves for superstar talent.
