Keyonte George, the 21-year-old second-year guard for the Utah Jazz, has faced significant challenges in his development this season, according to Andy Larsen of The Salt Lake Tribune.
Along with struggling with his shooting efficiency – posting a .375 field goal percentage and a .336 mark from three-point range – George has also encountered issues with turnovers and defense.
Larsen notes that these struggles have prevented George from establishing himself as a reliable ball-handling point guard, and his shooting inconsistencies make it difficult for him to fully step into the role of a shooting guard.
While George has shown potential and is still young, his play has not yet instilled confidence in the Jazz’s coaching staff and front office.
However, Larsen also emphasizes that the player works hard and is committed to improving.
Despite his early-season difficulties, he remains a player with upside, but for him to become the contributor the Jazz envisioned when they selected him in the 2023 NBA Draft, he will need to make considerable strides, particularly in his shooting, decision-making, and defensive play.
