Joel Embiid’s reputation within the NBA continues to be a topic of debate, especially after recent events surrounding the Philadelphia 76ers.
On the latest episode of FanDuel TV’s Run It Back, Sam Amick, Senior NBA Writer at The Athletic, shared his thoughts on the matter.
Amick admitted that he had been aware of ongoing concerns regarding Embiid’s professionalism, not just in the league but within the 76ers organization.
“I knew that his professionalism had been questioned consistently around the league, and within the organization,” Amick stated.
His comments come amidst rumors and reports surrounding a recent players-only meeting in Philadelphia. The controversy began after a leak revealed that Tyrese Maxey had called out Embiid for his habitual lateness.
According to sources, Maxey criticized the star center for being late to various team events, which reportedly created tension within the locker room. This incident has only fueled speculation about Embiid’s commitment to the team.
While Amick acknowledged these issues, he remained somewhat uncertain about the extent to which they have been exaggerated.
“I’m still not sure what my take is on how much folks are piling on versus what’s really been the case,” he added.
