Real Madrid is reportedly close to acquiring French guard Isaia Cordinier from Virtus Bologna through a potential €500,000 buyout. With the team’s recent struggles in the EuroLeague, Los Blancos are looking to bring in new talent to improve their standings and competitiveness.

Cordinier has been a standout for Virtus Bologna since joining in 2021, and his performance this season has been notable. The 27-year-old is currently averaging 13.8 points, 4.6 rebounds, and 4 assists over 28 minutes per game in the EuroLeague.

With Virtus off to a challenging start, having won only two of their first eight games, Cordinier’s potential departure could bring significant changes to both teams’ rosters.

Alessandro Luigi Maggi recently tweeted on the status of the potential transfer, sharing insights from Repubblica-Bologna: “Isaia Cordinier-Real Madrid, the deal is increasingly possible. Alerted days ago to offer him a €500,000 buyout and found in Real Madrid in black crisis a possible landing place, the Octagon agency is waiting for the green light from Bologna to proceed.”

The addition of Cordinier could be a strategic one for Real Madrid, who are currently sitting 12th in the EuroLeague standings with a 3-5 record.

After a series of losses, the team’s management appears determined to improve the squad’s depth and performance, with Cordinier seen as a viable option to bolster the lineup and address Madrid’s ongoing struggles.

This development comes as Real Madrid seeks to stabilize their roster and regain momentum in a competitive EuroLeague season.
