Portland Trail Blazers swingman Matisse Thybulle is expected to miss three to four weeks after undergoing a procedure to address inflammation in his right knee. The team announced the news on Thursday, confirming that Thybulle’s recovery timeline will likely keep him sidelined for the first month of the NBA season.
NBA insider Michael Scotto reported the news, noting that the 27-year-old underwent the procedure to alleviate discomfort in his knee. The injury comes just days before Portland’s regular-season opener against the Golden State Warriors on October 23.
Last season, Thybulle averaged 5.4 points, 2.1 rebounds, and 1.4 assists in 22.9 minutes per game. Known for his defensive prowess, he played a crucial role in Portland’s lineup, especially in guarding top perimeter players.
Thybulle’s absence will force head coach Chauncey Billups to adjust the rotation, with other wings like Shaedon Sharpe and Anfernee Simons likely stepping up to fill the defensive void. The Blazers will also look to rely on rookie Scoot Henderson and veteran Jerami Grant to maintain a balanced attack as the team navigates the early part of the season without their defensive specialist.
