During the press conference after the game between Boston Celtics and Denver Nuggets in Abu Dhabi, Denver’s newcomer Russell Westbrook was talking about how he still, after so many years in the NBA league, he finds motivation to play on such a great level.
“There were a couple of reasons that motivates me to still playing. One, I am grateful and blessed and I don’t take this game for granted. Anytime I step on the basketball floor, I play as hard as I can. Second one, I’ve learned a long time ago. When I was younger, my dad used to tell me ‘you never know who is watching’. And this is an international game. There are kid or people that have flown here, that drove here just to see guys like myself and the guys on both teams to play. And that can inspire somebody out there or watching because of us. So, playing hard is part of who I am but also to inspire other people as well”, answered Russell when he was asked about motivation after all these years in the league. And as a young kid the person who his inspiration were his parents.
“My inspiration growing up was always my parents. My parents were big role models for me for many reasons and different part of my life and once God has kinda put me in this position to have this platform to play basketball, I’ll use it to try to inspire other people, to impact, and you can do that by the way I play, by the things you do and that is why I mentioned you never know who’s watching. It’s very important to be able to seize the moment any time you step on the basketball floor”, said Denver Nugget’s newcomer.
