Los Angeles Lakers head coach JJ Redick recently shared his assessment of the team’s 2024 draft pick, Dalton Knecht.
Redick expressed high expectations for Knecht’s shooting ability, stating on The Lowe Post with Zach Lowe, “Dalton to me, I told him this the other day like, he’s in the 1% of shooters.”
He further emphasized the rarity of Knecht’s skill set, noting that “he has a skill that it’s hard to find. He’s gonna have a chance to earn a spot in the rotation.”
The Lakers selected Knecht with the 17th overall pick in the 2024 NBA Draft. He officially signed with the team on July 3, 2024.
During his college career at Tennessee, Knecht made 38.3% of his three-point attempts. He also demonstrated efficiency from the field, shooting 46.1% overall.
Last season, Knecht averaged 21.7 points per game. His overall shooting percentages included 45.8% from the field and 39.7% from beyond the arc.
In addition to his scoring ability, Knecht contributed 4.9 rebounds and 1.8 assists per game in 30.6 minutes of play.
