Lonnie Walker IV could be waived by the Boston Celtics before the start of the season, despite recently signing an Exhibit 10 contract.
Shams Charania of The Athletic reported that Walker has joined the Celtics on an Exhibit 10 deal, which could include a bonus if he is waived after training camp.
The 25-year-old guard’s contract structure allows the Celtics to keep their 15th roster spot open for the start of the season.
Walker averaged 9.7 points per game and shot 38.4 percent from three-point range last season with the Brooklyn Nets.
The Exhibit 10 contract provides an incentive for Walker to join Boston’s G League affiliate in Maine if waived.
