Dirk Nowitzki has suggested that the NBA Championship should be labeled as the “NBA Champs” and the World Cup should be considered the “World Champions.”
The Dallas Mavericks and German basketball icon expressed his thoughts on the title of NBA champions during a recent interview with Donatas Urbonas of BasketNews.
“I mean, I get it, you know, the NBA is the best league in the world. So, of course, when you win it, you call yourself the world champs,” Nowitzki said.
He continued, “But technically, it’s not a world championship. I played FIBA, I played NBA, so I get both arguments.”
Nowitzki proposed that the NBA title could simply be “NBA Champs,” while the World Cup should be regarded as the true world championship.
