Utah Jazz All-Star Lauri Markkanen has signed a $238 million extension, according to NBA insider Adrian Wojnarowski.
The forward agreed to a five-year contract renegotiation and extension, which includes $220 million in new money.
Markkanen had one year and $18 million left on his contract, but utilized the Jazz’s salary cap space to increase his 2024-2025 salary by $24 million.
The extension includes an additional four years and $196 million, without any options.
This contract precludes Markkanen from being traded for six months, pushing him past the February 6th trade deadline.
Markkanen, who is 27 years old, had an impressive season, averaging 23.2 points, 8.2 rebounds, and 2 assists in 33.1 minutes per game.
