The Brooklyn Nets have solidified Mamadi Diakite’s future by guaranteeing a portion of his contract, a move tied to their blockbuster trade involving Mikal Bridges.
NBA insider Michael Scotto reported that the Nets guaranteed $1.39 million of Diakite’s $2.27 million contract, reflecting their commitment to the young forward.
Diakite, previously with the New York Knicks, was part of a massive trade deal on July 4, 2024.
In this trade, Diakite joined the Nets alongside Bojan Bogdanovic, Shake Milton, and several high-value draft picks, including four unprotected first-round picks and a pick swap.
In return, the Nets sent Mikal Bridges, Keita Bates-Diop, and a second-round pick to New York.
During the recent NBA season, Diakite had limited opportunities with the Knicks.
He played in just three regular-season games, where he did not score, and appeared in four playoff games, averaging less than a point in 3.7 minutes per game.
