Here’s Oklahoma City Thunder star Shai Gilgeous-Alexander on getting cut from St. Thomas More’s sophomore basketball team as a 9th grader to now becoming one of the NBA’s best players.

(via Oklahoma City Thunder):

“Sometimes I sit back, and it’s surreal, just where I was a decade ago… To think that I’m here now is a crazy feeling. You’re always taught to dream big, believe in yourself. But growing up, I was a little delusional, many would say. I guess I probably sounded crazy back then and sounded a little bit too confident, but I always had a feeling that I would get here. I just always knew I could control my destiny and where I end up, to a certain degree. I know how hard I worked, I knew how bad I wanted it, and I was willing to do whatever it took to get here. I don’t think it’s a coincidence that I’m here. I think I earned it, and it’s for good reason.”
