Miami Heat head coach Erik Spoelstra has offered an update on the status of guard Tyler Herro, who is sidelined with a foot injury.

While Herro will miss Friday’s game against the Portland Trail Blazers, Spoelstra noted that the young guard is progressing well in his recovery process.

Spoelstra expressed optimism about Herro’s return, stating that he has entered the next phase of his rehabilitation and is showing positive signs on the court.

“He’s on that next phase of his return. We don’t have a timeline, but it’s definitely encouraging that he’s able to get out on the wood and start to get ready. It was part of the ramp-up, it was part of the plan. There’s a lot of encouraging things,” Spoelstra said.

Herro has been sidelined since late February, but his recent progress suggests that he could be nearing a return to action.

This season, the 24-year-old guard has been a key contributor for the Heat, averaging 20.8 points, 5.3 rebounds, and 4.4 assists per game.

With the playoffs approaching, the Heat are eager to have Herro back in the lineup as they vie for a direct spot in the postseason.

Currently, Miami occupies the seventh seed in the Eastern Conference standings, just one game behind the sixth-seeded Indiana Pacers.
