Rudy Gobert fouled out during the Minnesota Timberwolves’ overtime loss to the Cleveland Cavaliers on Friday night.

In response to his sixth foul, Gobert made the “money” sign directed at the officials as he walked to the bench. This action resulted in a technical foul, contributing to the Cavaliers forcing the game into overtime.

Post-game, Gobert continued his critique of how sports betting might be influencing officiating decisions, expressing ongoing concerns about the potential impact of betting on the integrity of the game and the officials’ calls.

“I made some mistakes. I airballed a dunk. Mistakes happen. Referees make mistakes, too,” Gobert said. “But sometimes I think it’s more than mistakes. I think everyone that’s in this league knows. I think it’s got to get better.”

Gobert reiterated his willingness to play the role of the “bad guy” by candidly expressing what he believes is the truth. He emphasized his belief that gambling is negatively impacting the NBA, reinforcing his stance on the potential adverse effects of sports betting on the league.

“I think it’s hurting our game. I know the betting and all that is becoming bigger and bigger, but it shouldn’t feel that way,” Gobert said.
