Mitch Kupchak, the longtime President of Basketball Operations for the Charlotte Hornets, is stepping down from his role, marking a significant shift in the organization’s leadership.

Under Kupchak’s tenure, the Hornets navigated various challenges, but the team’s highest finish in the Eastern Conference was ninth place.

According to ESPN NBA insider Adrian Wojnarowski, Kupchak will transition into an advisory position within the organization, allowing the Hornets to initiate an immediate search for a new head of basketball operations.

Wojnarowski also reported that several league executives are expected to be considered for the role, including New Orleans GM Trajan Langdon, Brooklyn assistant GM Jeff Peterson, Cleveland GM Mike Gansey, Philadelphia GM Elton Brand, and others.

Kupchak’s decision to step down comes amid ongoing discussions about the Hornets’ future direction and the need for fresh leadership to guide the team forward.

As the Hornets embark on a new chapter, Kupchak’s transition to an advisory role signals a commitment to continuity while embracing potential changes in leadership.
