In a recent conversation with Brandon “Scoop B” Robinson, NBA Hall of Famer Jamaal Wilkes delved into the influence of superstars Steph Curry and LeBron James on the basketball landscape.

Reflecting on their respective legacies, Wilkes highlighted Curry’s transformative effect on the game through his mastery of the 3-point shot, which has redefined the role of guards and amplified their significance in contemporary basketball.

Expounding on Curry’s impact, Wilkes emphasized the seismic shift brought about by the “Splash Brother,” stating: “Well I think they both impacted social media. Steph I think with the explosion of the 3-point shot and I think that he’s made the guard even more relevant quite frankly.”

When talked about James, Wilkes underscored the versatility and multifaceted skill set that distinguishes the Los Angeles Lakers’ superstar, describing him as a paradigm of basketball excellence and adaptability. “LeBron with his multi skills… he’s just so versatile and his versatility is really an impact,” he said.

When posed with the question of allegiance between his former teams, the Golden State Warriors and the Lakers, Wilkes navigated diplomatically, expressing his enduring ties to both franchises while confessing a slight lean towards the Lakers due to his extended residency in Los Angeles.

With a chuckle, Wilkes admitted to maintaining a deep-rooted affinity for the Lakers, stating: “I’ve lived longer down here so I tend to root for the Lakers more only for that reason… but I STILL have deep ties to Golden State and once LeBron became a Laker, I rooted for him.”
