Portland Trail Blazers’ rookie Scoot Henderson, selected as the third pick in the 2023 NBA Draft, is steadfast in his pursuit of the prestigious Rookie of the Year award.

In a recent statement to Colin Ward-Henninger of CBS Sports, Henderson expressed his ambition, stating, “Trying to get Rookie of the Year, that’s still my goal. That’s still up in the air, I think.”

The 19-year-old guard, chosen after Victor Wembanyama and Brandon Miller in the draft, is making a significant impact in his debut NBA season.

Throughout the current season, Henderson has been a key contributor for the Trail Blazers, posting averages of 11.8 points, 2.6 rebounds, and 4.4 assists in 26.7 minutes per game.

In the Rookie of the Year race, Henderson currently ranks fifth in points per game among his fellow rookies. The leaderboard is currently led by Wembanyama with 18.8 points, followed by Chet Holmgren (17.5), Miller (14.7), and Jaime Jaquez Jr. (13.8).
