The future of Zach LaVine with the Chicago Bulls is becoming increasingly uncertain, as trade discussions gain momentum early in the season.

NBA insider Shams Charania shed light on the situation, revealing heightened openness from both LaVine and the Bulls regarding a potential trade.

Charania noted on The Rally, “I’m told the teams have begun probing the Bulls on the availability of Zach LaVine.”

With most of the NBA’s general managers gathered in Chicago, discussions are expected to intensify as the season unfolds. Charania added, “Conversations are expected to begin in earnest as this season begins. Teams that are expected to have a level of interest in LaVine, I’m told: the Lakers, Heat and 76ers.”

The Bulls, currently sporting a 4-7 record, face not only the prospect of LaVine’s potential departure but also uncertainties surrounding DeMar DeRozan, who is on an expiring contract with no extension talks in sight.

Speaking about the team’s situation, Charania offered insight, saying, “So the Bulls, 4-7, there’s obviously some uncertainty around LaVine and also DeMar DeRozan.”

As Chicago navigates a challenging start to the season, they confront a crucial decision—whether to persist with the current roster or initiate a rebuilding phase.

Charania emphasized the potential for movement in Chicago, stating, “The sense around the league is whether it’s LaVine, or DeRozan, or both, there could be movement in Chicago sooner than later.”

In the ongoing season, LaVine, at 28 years old, is averaging 21.9 points, 4.8 rebounds, and 3 assists in 35.1 minutes per game.
