The highly anticipated matchup between the Thunder’s Chet Holmgren and the Spurs’ Victor Wembanyama saw the latter struggling with eight points on 4-for-15 shooting, his lowest performance this year.
Holmgren contributed nine points, seven rebounds, and three assists. Oklahoma City set a franchise record with 19 steals, capitalizing on San Antonio’s 25 turnovers, scoring 23 points in the process.
Josh Giddey added 18 points, seven rebounds, and seven assists for the Thunder, securing their first In-Season Tournament win in three attempts and improving their overall record to 7-4.
The Spurs, on the other hand, faced their sixth consecutive loss, falling to 3-8 overall and 0-2 in the tournament.
San Antonio became the second team to endure three 30-point losses in their first 11 games, joining the 1990-91 Denver Nuggets.
