While most NBA coaches enjoyed a well-deserved break during the offseason, Clippers head coach Tyronn Lue had a different agenda.

Lue took on the role of assistant coach for Team USA at this year’s FIBA World Cup, where the American squad secured a fourth-place finish.

The experience with USA Basketball had a significant impact on Lue, rejuvenating his coaching spirit and preparing him for the upcoming NBA season.

“USA Basketball gave me a jolt to get up and get going and get my mind activated and get ready for camp,” he said, per Law Murray of The Athletic.

Transitioning from the international stage back to the Clippers, Lue feels primed and ready to make an immediate impact. He acknowledged that coaching at the national level can serve as an ideal warm-up for the NBA season.

“Having that five, six weeks with USA Basketball has really got my mind going and has got my mind in shape to be ready to start camp,” Lue explained.
