QUEZON CITY, Philippines — South Sudan saved its best for last by pulverizing Angola, 101-78, to finish their 2023 FIBA World Cup outing in an impressive fashion within Smart Araneta Coliseum this Saturday, Sept. 2.

The Bright Stars feasted in almost the entire matchup, posting by as much as 23 markers to completely own the battle between two African nations.

Five players logged double-digit scoring for the South Sudanese national club as Carlik Jones took the lead by churning a 26-point, 15-assist double-double. Marial Shayok scored 18 markers with three treys, while Nuni Omot added 17 points.

Childe Dundao still willed his Angolan squad to 21 points.

With a 3-2 record to conclude their Group Phase, South Sudan will wait for the key result of the Egypt-New Zealand match later. Should The Pharaohs fail to prevail, the tournament debutants will officially take the outright ticket to the 2024 Paris Olympics as the representing country for Africa.
