Franz Wagner will miss the second FIBA World Cup group game against Australia. The setback comes after the 21-year-old small forward suffered a left ankle injury during Germany’s opening game against Japan.

The injury occurred with approximately five minutes remaining in the match as Wagner aggressively drove for a pass and collided mid-air with a Japanese player. While he was able to walk off the court under his own power, he was subsequently ruled out for the remainder of the game.

ESPN’s Olgun Uluc confirmed Wagner’s absence from the Australia game, tweeting, “Franz Wagner is out for tonight’s Australian Boomers vs Germany game, he told ESPN.”
